VALDOSTA – An intoxicated Valdosta man was arrested after firing a gun and walking down the street with a sword.
Release:
Arrested: Dennis Lee Hall, Caucasian male, 43 years of age, Valdosta resident
On August 9, 2024, at approximately 11:50 pm., Valdosta Police Officers responded to the area of the 400 block of Heritage Place after several citizens called E911 to report a person banging on their front doors, as well as hearing gunshots in the area. When the officers arrived, they saw Dennis Lee Hall, 43 years of age. Hall was walking down the street drinking from a liquor bottle and carrying a sword. As the officers began to approach Hall he threw the sword down. Officers observed a holster and a firearm lying on the ground behind Hall. Not far from the gun, officers observed several spent shell casings. Officers searched the area and could not find anyone that had been injured, or any property that had been damaged by the gunshots.
Further evidence collected in the area connected Hall to the gunshots that were heard by the citizens.
Hall was arrested and transported to Lowndes County Jail. He has been charged with:
- Reckless conduct-misdemeanor;
- Public drunk-misdemeanor; and
- Discharge of a gun near a public highway-misdemeanor.
“Our officers did a great job, quickly responding to the area and identifying the offender. This offender’s actions, by discharging a firearm, while intoxicated, was careless and reckless, putting many lives in danger.” Said Chief Leslie Manahan.
