VALDOSTA – A 38-year-old Valdosta resident was arrested at a convenience store after stealing a woman’s bag and trying to use her credit and debit cards.

Offender: Chandler, Elliott L, African American male, age 38, resident of Valdosta
On August 27, 2022, at approximately 10:55 am., Patrol Officers with Valdosta Police Department responded to the 100 block of North Patterson Street after E911 received a report of a robbery. Upon arrival, the victim advised officers a subject, later identified as Elliott Chandler had stolen her bag from her immediate presence. The victim related she was sitting at a table when Chandler, whom she did not know, rode his bicycle past her and at the same time reached down and grabbed her bag which contained personal items including credit and debit cards.
Other responding officers received a description of Chandler and he was located at a nearby convenience store. Chandler was found to still have the victim’s belongings in his possession. Further investigation revealed Chandler attempted to purchase items from the store with the stolen credit card. Chandler also provided officers with incorrect biological information. Chandler was arrested and transported to Lowndes County Jail where he was charged with the following:
Robbery by Snatching (felony).
Financial Transaction Card Fraud (felony); and
Providing a False Name and Date of Birth (Misdemeanor).
