VALDOSTA – A Missouri man was ejected from a truck after driving recklessly during a high speed pursuit with the Valdosta Police Department.

Release:

On January 11, 2025, at approximately 2:10 am., a Valdosta Police Officer observed a pickup truck turn north from Baytree Road, onto Jerry Jones Drive, recklessly.  As the driver of the truck made the turn, he began to accelerate quickly, which caused the vehicle to slide sideways.  The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the truck, but the driver continued to accelerate, which caused the vehicle to slide from side to side.  Due to the reckless nature of the driver’s actions, the officer attempted to pursue the truck.  The truck entered opposite lanes of travel and continued to increase speeds.  The officer lost sight of the pickup truck in the 2100 block of Jerry Jones Drive.  As the officer continued around the curve near South Forty Road, he observed a lot of debris and noticed that the pickup truck had left the roadway and had wrecked.

The driver of the truck, a 23-year-old male from Missouri, was found to have been ejected from the vehicle.  Officers attempted to render aid until emergency medical services from South Georgia Medical Center arrived at the scene.  The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Georgia State Patrol was requested, and they responded to conduct the investigation of the accident.
