VALDOSTA – The VPD has arrested two juveniles from Valdosta in connection to a shooting incident at an apartment complex.

On August 25, 2024, at approximately 12:30 pm., Valdosta Police Officer responded to 1100 Old Statenville Road after several citizens called E911 to report an apartment had been shot. No one was injured during the incident.
Detectives began to investigate the case, by speaking with witnesses and looking at evidence collected at the scene. Through investigation, detectives identified two juveniles as being responsible for the shooting. One juvenile male was 16 years of age, while the other was 15 years of age.
On August 27, 2024, detectives located both juveniles and took them into custody. Both juveniles have been charged with:
- Aggravated assault-felony;
- Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony-felony;
- Criminal damage to property-felony; and
- Possession of a firearm by a minor-misdemeanor.
After taking the juveniles into custody, detectives contacted the Department of Juvenile Justice, who authorized that the juveniles would be detained in a Regional Youth Detention Center.
This investigation is ongoing and further charges are pending.
“At 12:30 pm., on a Sunday afternoon, there were numerous children outside playing at this apartment complex. Thank goodness this senseless and reckless act by these juveniles did not injure anyone. I am proud of the quick work by our detectives to identify these two offenders, and then get them in custody.” Said Chief Leslie Manahan.
