VPD arrest burglar after chase

On August 6, 2020, at approximately 2:59 am, Valdosta Police Officers responded to 1707 North Forrest Street, after receiving a 911 call that someone had possibly observed a burglary occurring. When the first officer arrived on the scene, he could hear a banging noise at the back of the business. As the officer approached the back of the business, he observed Patrick Brockman running from the area. During the foot pursuit, Brockman ran to a vehicle that was parked near the business, and he began to drive off. Officers tried to stop Brockman, but he ignored them and continued to flee. Officers continued to pursue Brockman in the vehicle until he stopped and ran on foot again. Officers caught up with Brockman, who tried to physically strike an officer in the face with his fist.

Officers located damage to the back of the business, where their first encounter with Brockman. 

They recovered evidence on the scene connecting him to the attempted burglary.

Brockman was arrested and taken to Lowndes County Jail where he is being held on the following charges:

  • Criminal attempt to commit burglary-felony;
  • Criminal damage to property-felony;
  • Possession of tools for the commission of a crime-felony;
  • 2 counts of obstruction of an officer-misdemeanor; and
  • Numerous traffic violations.
