Release:
On Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at approximately 3:22 am., Valdosta Police Officers responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Kimberly Drive, after a female called 911 and reported that she was involved in a dispute. She reported that Adam Nolff was attempting to set her vehicle on fire. When the first arrived on the scene, he observed Nolff physically assaulting the female. The officer immediately ran into the residence to stop the assault. Nolff then turned on the officer and began physically resisting arrest while assaulting him. Nolff tried to grab the officer’s handgun from the holster but was not successful. Nolff did grab the officer’s conducted electrical weapon from the holster and deployed it towards the officer. The officer was able to grab Nolff, who continued to punch the officer in the head. The officer was able to hold on to Nolff until other officers arrived on the scene and were able to detain him.
The victim told other responding officers that Nolff had grabbed her around the neck, dragged her through the house, and choked her.
Nolff was transported to Lowndes County Jail, where is being held on charges of aggravated assault-felony, aggravated assault on a police officer-felony, obstruction of an officer-felony, criminal attempt to commit arson-felony, and removing or attempting to remove a weapon from an officer-felony.
The officer was taken to South Georgia Medical Center for evaluation, where he was released. The victim was treated on the scene by EMS for superficial injuries.
“I am so proud of our officer who put his own life at risk when he saw this victim being assaulted. We are appreciative of all the local law enforcement officers who responded when our officer called for assistance and assisted in taking this offender into custody.” Chief Leslie Manahan
