VPD seeking two for deadly shooting

On June 14, 2020, at approximately 10:37 pm., Valdosta Police Officers responded to the 500 block of Hudson Street, for a 911 call about a subject who had been shot. Upon arrival, officers found a 24-year-old male with apparent gunshot wounds to his body. Officers provided first aid until Emergency Medical Services arrived on the scene. EMS transported the victim to South Georgia Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased. Detectives with the Valdosta Police Department and Crime Scene Personnel from the Valdosta Lowndes Regional Crime Laboratory responded to the scene to investigate the incident, which is being treated as a homicide.

Through investigation, Valdosta Police Department Person’s Crime Detectives have identified Ivanson Xavier Davis and Michael Jermaine Evans, as being involved in the shooting death of Tommy Simmons. On Monday, June 15, 2020, detectives obtained arrest warrants on Davis for felony murder, and for Evans for party to the crime of felony murder. The whereabouts of Davis and Evans are unknown, but they should be considered armed and dangerous. If anyone has any information on their whereabouts, please call 911 immediately.

The case is still under investigation and further charges are pending.
