Burglar Discovered as Officer Worked Separate Case

VALDOSTA, Ga.— A burglar was recognized by an officer as he worked a completely separate case. On Tuesday, March 3, a burglary was reported and investigated at roughly 7 AM. Video surveillance allowed officer to identify the burglar as Rodriquez Owens. In a separate investigation, Rodriquez was easily recognized and subsequently arrested.

PRESS RELEASE:

On March 3, 2020, at approximately 7 am, a patrol officer with Valdosta Police Department responded to the 100 block East Adair Street, in reference to a burglary. Upon arrival, the officer was able to observe the video surveillance video of the offenders entering the business and stealing numerous items. Images of the offender were distributed to all of our officers. While investigating another case on March 3, 2020, at approximately 1:40 pm, a different officer recognized Rodriquez Owens as being the offender in this burglary case. Officers were able to recover several items stolen during the burglary. Owens was transported to Lowndes County Jail and charged with Burglary (Felony) and Criminal Trespass (Misdemeanor). This investigation is on-going.
