VALDOSTA, Ga. – On September 17, 2019, at approximately 10:45 a.m., officers with the Valdosta Police Department received an anonymous tip that Devin Mitchell was at his residence on Sundance Circle. Officers were told that Mitchell had two active arrest warrants through Lowndes County, one for violation of probation and a bench warrant. With the information provided to officers, they confirmed that the two warrants were valid. As officers approached the residence, they saw a vehicle leave the area at a high rate of speed.
Officers found the vehicle at a residence in the 400 block of University Drive. As officers approached the vehicle, Mitchell fled on foot. A Valdosta Police Department K9 Unit began tracking where Mitchell had last been seen. Mitchell was located by the K9 Unit hiding behind a business in the 200 block of Northside Drive, where he was taken into custody without incident. He was transported to Lowndes County Jail, where he was charged with obstruction of an officer (misdemeanor) and numerous traffic violations.
Once at Lowndes County Jail, officers were notified that Mitchell was wanted out of Broward County Florida, for attempted murder.
“Our officers did a great job working together in apprehending this dangerous subject and getting him off the streets,” remarked VPD Chief Leslie Manahan
