Quitman Shooting Victim Found Sunday Night

VALDOSTA, GA – Jasmine Davis, 29, was found shot in an alley off South Culpepper Street in Quitman Sunday, August 12 around 10:30 p.m.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called in to assist the Quitman Police Department at 11:30 p.m. and has officially opened an investigation in what appears to be a homicide.

According to GBI Special-Agent-in-Charge Jamy Steinberg, a Quitman citizen found Davis who was still alive and called 911.The individual who found the body reportedly called 911. EMS worked on Davis at the scene and transported him to Brooks County Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A representative at the Quitman Police Department stated that Davis was originally from Quitman but lived in Valdosta.

Davis’ body has been taken to the Macon medical examiner at the GBI’s Crime Lab for autopsy.
