VALDOSTA – The Valdosta Police Department’s Burglary unit has been working several Burglary investigations since the end of September.
Beginning with Miller Hardware located at 104 South Lee Street, on September 25, 2016, Lowndes County E-911 received a burglary alarm from the closed business at approximately 4:45 am. Officer responded to the location and discovered that the business had been burglarized.
Again, on October 13, 2016, a business requested Valdosta Police due to a reported break-in at 526 Griffin Avenue (Christian Love Bible Church).
In another incident, on October 25, 2016, at approximately 3 am, the Dollar General’s (1610 Northside Drive) alarm was reported to Lowndes E-911 dispatch after an offender had forcibly entered the business and committed a theft therein.
Again on October 30, 2016, Powerhouse Outdoors (2122 Bemiss Road) requested Valdosta Police to respond due to a subject Burglarizing the business.
In another incident, a burglary was reported to have occurred to the Pecan Factory (201 S. Lee St) in which a forced entry was made to the business and property had been taken without permission.
All of these cases were turned over to the Valdosta Police Department’s Bureau of Investigations’ Burglary Unit. The detectives in this unit investigated all of the burglaries. They carefully analyzed physical evidence, witness accounts, and video surveillance.
During the investigation, the Burglary unit was able to develop clear evidence to file charges for Gregory Morrison Jr., 37, in all five burglary cases. Morrison has since been arrested and is in custody at the Lowndes County Jail.
“This was a lengthy investigation by the Valdosta Police Department but through the cooperation of the business owners and the hard work of officers and detectives of the police department, we apprehended this offender before he could victimize more business owners,” said VPD Lt. Adam Bembry.
