LOWNDES Co. – A Lowndes County man was killed in a house fire Friday night, and officials are continuing to investigate the cause of the blaze.
The home was fully involved when firefighters arrived, and they battled the blaze on Rowland Lane for almost six hours.
Charles Rowland, 83, was found dead inside the home. There were no other people in the home at the time of the fire.
Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire, which may be linked to the use of space heaters.
Lowndes officials are asking residents to turn off any alternate heating methods, like space heaters, when they aren’t home and at night.
