VALDOSTA – Valdosta Cinemas has teamed up with the South Georgia Regional Library to celebrate the premiere of the latest movie in the Harry Potter series.

Set 70 years before the Harry Potter films, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” stars Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, a British wizard and writer who hops the pond to encounter America’s secret community of witches and wizards. The movie is based on a short book by J.K. Rowling which makes an appearance as a Hogwarts textbook in the Harry Potter series.

“Fantastic Beasts” premieres Thursday at the Valdosta Cinemas at 6 p.m., but the South Georgia Regional Library is offering fun activities for the kids before showtime.

“We’ve partnered with the Girl Scouts and the VSU Chemistry Department for fun activities for the kids in the upstairs area and in the party room at the theater to celebrate the kick off of the movie,” said Celia McClelland, youth services librarian.

The activities begin at 5 p.m.
