VALDOSTA – Early voting is underway in Georgia for the 2016 presidential election.
Monday marks the first day you can vote in-person before Election Day on Nov. 8.
In Lowndes County, early voting will be held Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. until November 4th and also on Saturday October 29 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday October 30 from Noon to 5 p.m.
Thomas County early voting began at 8 p.m. Monday and will end November 4 at 5 p.m. The county will also have early voting on October 29 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Georgia residents can check their local voting officials’ website for more information.
Secretary of State Brian Kemp recommends that people visit his office’s website to check registration status, view sample ballots and find the correct voting location.
Counties began sending out mail-in absentee ballots in mid-September. People who want to vote by mail must request a ballot by Nov. 4. Kemp says it’s better to request those ballots well before the deadline.
