VALDOSTA – Learning in Retirement members recently discovered that the ukulele is more than a comedic prop or a souvenir to get friends and family after a trip to Hawaii. Rather, it is a versatile instrument with a broad range capable of playing well within almost any musical genre.
Following Through with Ukulele Two, which met seven consecutive Mondays between Jan. 25 and March 7, was just one part of a winter term course lineup that included trips and tours, books and book reviews, topics that are simply “good to know,” special events, and classes in the areas of health and fitness, computers and technology, fine arts, leisure, history, social studies, and science.
Men and women 50 years of age and older will have 90 opportunities to learn something new during the Learning in Retirement 2016 spring term, which kicks off Tuesday, March 15.
New members are welcome to join this member-led and Valdosta State University-sponsored organization. Contact Suzanne Ewing, program coordinator, at (229) 245-6484 or sewing@valdosta.edu to learn more.
