VALDOSTA – The Valdosta Police Department made a string of arrests in separate incidents this week involving Flakka and prostitution charges.

At approximately 11:20 a.m. Tuesday, members of the VPD Narcotics Unit conducted a prostitution investigation after receiving complaints. The investigation led to the arrests of two individuals, said VPD Capt. Kari Williams.

Brook Suzanne Lee, 22, was charge with prostitution and possession of amphetamine, and Quinetta Martin, 18, was charged with pimping, according to VPD reports. Both were taken to the Lowndes County Jail.

Later that afternoon at 4:45 p.m., narcotics detectives investigated complaints of illegal drug activity in the 900 block of West Street.

During the investigation, officers seized $100 worth of cocaine, $80 worth of marijuana and $20 worth of Alpha-PVP (Flakka), Williams said.

Thaaron Mathis, 33, was charged with sale of cocaine, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, use of a communication facility and possession of Alpha-PVP. Mathis was taken to the Lowndes County Jail.

At approximately noon on Wednesday, the VPD Narcotics Unit investigated complaints of illegal narcotics activity in the block of Lake Park Road, an area which includes a school, a park and Valdosta Housing Authority apartments, Williams said.

During the investigation, detectives reportedly recovered $500 worth of Alpha-PVP (Flakka), a handgun and marijuana.

Robert Lewis Thomas, 50, was charged with sale of Alpha-PVP, possession of Alpha-PVP with intent to distribute, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm with an altered serial number, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a housing project, possession with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a park, possession with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school and possession of marijuana. Thomas was taken to the Lowndes County Jail.

“On each of these cases, citizens contacted the police department and made us aware of these crimes,” Williams said. “With their help, we continue to make Valdosta a safer place to live. We have always said the police cannot solve crime without the help of the community. These cases are another example of the partnership we have with our community.”
