ALBANY — An Albany man was arrested Sunday night for operating a ‘shot house.’ Police arrested and charged Larry Cooper for Maintaining a Disorderly House while looking for Albany Transitional Center escapee, Larry Johnson.
Johnson was being apprehended by the U.S. Marshal’s Office for escaping the transitional center when they found Cooper’s alcohol stash.
Police reported that a ‘shot house’ is a place where alcohol is sold without a license.
Cooper was arrested at his home on South Cleveland Street at 7:30 p.m., Sunday night. Officials reported that multiple people were inside the home drinking alcoholic beverages.
Police checked everyone inside the home for warrants then released all of them.
According to a WALB report, “Officers recovered three cases of Natural Light Beer and 15 – 12 ounce cans of Bush Light Beer (from the kitchen refrigerator), 1 case Icehouse Beer, 8 – 1.75 liter bottles of Barton Vodka, a gallon of Seagram’s Gin, 2 -1.75 Bottles Seagram’s Vodka, 1- Liter of E and J Brandy, 1- Liter of Paul Mason Brandy.”
Cooper was sent to the Dougherty County Jail and the alcohol was collected and taken to the the Law Enforcement Center.
