CORDELE — On Thursday, Jan. 15, Cordele City Commissioner, Jamie Fernandez was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. Police were called to Fernandez’ home around 8:30 a.m. due to a domestic dispute.

The commissioner’s wife, Lindsey Hardin Fernandez was sent to Crisp Regional Medical Center with injuries to her head, neck, and shoulder.

Police turned the case over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation because of Jamie Fernandez’ position as commissioner.

The case is still under investigation.
