VALDOSTA – On Tuesday evening, the Valdosta City School Board of Education held a public meeting. The main subject, and the source of the large crowd gathered in the Performing Arts Center of the old VHS was the re-voting on the dismissal of the Valdosta High School football coach, Alan Rodemaker.
The large crowd gathered in the Performing Arts Center of the old Valdosta High School seemed to largely be in favor of the board overturning their decision and reinstating the coach. The board broke their policy and allowed more than two citizens the chance to address them. Again, the majority of the speakers were in favor of reinstatement. Before calling for an executive session, the board allowed Alan Rodemaker himself to speak for the same five minute term that was given to all other speakers.
When the board returned, they once again voted to terminate coach Rodemaker’s employment. As they did in their original decision, the board gave no reason for the termination.
