What to Watch, Celebrate, and Follow This May

IN OTHER NEWS… If you’re wondering what May has in store, there’s actually a lot to look forward to across sports, movies, TV, and even a few fun holidays.

Sports

It’s a big month for sports fans. The NBA and NHL playoffs are heating up, and horse racing’s biggest events are here, starting with the Kentucky Derby, followed by the Preakness Stakes on May 16th.

Golf fans can catch the PGA Championship beginning May 14th, while tennis takes center stage with the French Open starting May 18th. And of course, racing fans can look forward to the Indianapolis 500 on May 24th.

Movies

There are plenty of new releases hitting theaters this month. The Devil Wears Prada 2 and the animated Animal Farm are already out.

Music fans can check out Iron Maiden: Burning Ambition on May 7th. Then on May 8th, both Mortal Kombat II and the comedy The Sheep Detectives arrive.

Later in the month, In the Grey drops May 15th, followed by Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu hitting theaters and IMAX on May 22nd.

TV & Streaming

On the TV side, there’s a lot to keep up with. Jersey Shore: Family Vacation kicks off its final season on MTV May 7th.

The Roast of Kevin Hart lands on Netflix May 10th, followed by Season 4 of Perfect Match on May 13th.

Fear Factor: 48 Hours of Fear premieres on Fox May 14th, and the Dutton Ranch series hits Paramount+ May 15th.

Late-night fans will see the final episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on May 21st.

Then toward the end of the month, new episodes of Rick and Morty premiere May 24th, and Spider-Noir debuts on Prime Video May 27th.

Award shows are also on deck, including the Academy of Country Music Awards on May 17th and the American Music Awards on May 25th.

Holidays

And don’t forget the holidays. Cinco de Mayo falls on a Tuesday this year, followed by Mother’s Day on May 10th and Memorial Day on May 25th.

There are also some fun ones sprinkled in, like Star Wars Day, National Teachers’ Day on May 5th, Armed Forces Day on May 16th, and National Hamburger Day on May 28th.
