VALDOSTA – The Valdosta-Lowndes County Parks & Recreation Authority and staff recently won state awards as top agency in the state.
Release:
The Valdosta-Lowndes County Parks & Recreation Authority is the top agency in the state according to the Georgia Recreation & Park Association. The Association named VLPRA the State Agency of the Year for population 80,001-150,000.

Two VLPRA staff members also won individual awards: Athletics Supervisor Chandler Nobles was named the “Promising Professional”, while Marketing & PR Director Jessica Catlett was named the “Distinguished Professional” in GRPA’s Administration/Leadership Network. GRPA members vote on the annual awards, which had a record-breaking number of entries this year.
“The VLPRA staff have overcome incredible adversity in the last year and have continued to deliver outstanding service to Valdosta and Lowndes County residents,” said VLPRA Board Chair Suzan Garnett. “This team takes great pride in their work and has shown resilience in the face of multiple natural disasters. The VLPRA Board is proud of their perseverance and resolve in caring for parks and providing quality recreation programming for our community.”
Garnett and the VLPRA staff accepted the awards at the GRPA State Conference in Columbus, Georgia earlier this month.
