LOWNDES/VALDOSTA – Following heavy rain and a flash flood warning, Lowndes County and Valdosta City Schools close on Thursday, April 11th.

LOWNDES:

During the night, we received a flash flood warning that was potentially life-threatening. Given the amount of rain we have received and will continue to receive, we have concerns regarding buses and cars accessing dirt roads and moving through potential flood zones. Out of an abundance of caution, knowing the safety of our staff and students is our top priority the decision has been made to close Lowndes County Schools and the System office for Thursday, April 11th. Please follow Lowndes EMA for additional information and updates. We look forward to seeing our One Lowndes family on Friday, April 12th.

VALDOSTA:

Due to the flash flood warning issued by the National Weather Service, Valdosta City Schools will be closed today.

We will reopen on Friday, March 12, 2024. Please be safe.
