On Wednesday, the Gulf South Conference and Valdosta State University officially announced that all football, basketball, soccer and volleyball competition will be postponed until at least the beginning of 2021.
The decision is based on these sports being identified as high contact risks for COVID-19 and wanting to put the health of student-athletes, coaches and staff first.
Other sports that were determined to be a lower risk, such as Cross County and Golf, will be permitted to have competition during the fall.
Valdosta State Director of Athletics, Herb Reinhard, indicates that they will look at opportunities for the fall sports programs to play in the upcoming spring. There are no current changes to the spring sport competitions.
