VALDOSTA – A man is in critical condition after being shot early Tuesday morning, and investigators are searching for possible suspects.

Shortly before 3 a.m., the Valdosta Police Department responded to a reported shooting in the 700 block of East Jane Street, said VPD Chief Brian Childress.

“When officers arrived on scene, they found a victim, male subject, who had been shot multiple times,” Childress said. “He was taken to South Georgia Medical Center. He is in critical condition right now, and we are praying for him.”

Crime scene technicians responded to the scene and have developed what Childress described as “critical evidence” which could lead to identifying the suspect. Childress also said detectives are also investigating the possibile involvment of more than one offender.

“This was an isolated incident. The house was targeted for a specific reason, and we believe it to be drug-related,” Childress said.
