VALDOSTA – A concerned neighbor thwarted a burglary in progress Wednesday morning, and police have arrested four suspects.

At approximately 7:45 a.m., a neighbor called 911 to report a possible burglary in progress in the 1100 block of Old Statenvill Road, said Valdosta Police Department Lt. Adam Bembry.

“The concerned neighbor reported to the emergency dispatcher that she witnessed seeing three African American male subjects wearing white t-shirts enter her neighbor’s apartment that she did not recognize,” Bembry said. “She then reported seeing the offenders exit her neighbor’s apartment carrying televisions and other property then leaving the area in a silver Honda Accord.”

A BOLO (Be On the Look Out) was issued for the vehicle’s description as well as the suspects described.

“Patrol officers and K-9 units, while responding to the area, observed a vehicle that matched the description of the BOLO and well as the description of the offenders,” Bembry said. “A traffic stop was initiated on the offender vehicle and contact was made with the offenders who were still holding one of the televisions in their lap. The homeowner was contacted and responded to the scene and confirmed that the items were indeed her property that had been stolen from her residence.”

All four offenders were transported to the Lowndes County Jail. Arrest warrants have been obtained and signed by the Lowndes County Magistrate’s Court for each offender who now face charges of:

Kalvin Jackson, 18, of Sparks, Xavier Parrish, 22, of Sparks, Jeana May, 22 of Hahira, and Stephen Miller, 20 of Hahira have all been charged with felony burglary, reports stated.

“The Valdosta Police Department cannot stress enough the importance of citizens reporting criminal activity when it is observed,” Bembry said. “In this case, four subjects were caught in the act of a felony by the actions of a brave citizen. Also, the excellent effort of the Lowndes County Emergency Dispatchers and our Uniform Road Patrol Officers in this case is commendable.”
