SPARKS – A Sparks man has been arrested in connection with a the shooting of two men earlier this month in Valdosta.
Anthony Johnson, 27, has been charged with reckless conduct and possession of firearm by a convicted felon. Johnson is currently being held in the Cook County Jail for other active arrest warrants out of Sparks.
Valdosta Police Detectives have confirmed that Johnson was one of the offenders who was firing a handgun randomly during an incident on May 2.
At approximately 2:08 a.m., the Valdosta Police Department responded to the 600 block of East Hill Avenue in reference to a reported shooting, said VPD Capt. Kari Williams.
“One victim was found on scene and taken to South Georgia Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his lower left leg,” Williams said. “A second victim was found to have traveled to a hospital in Adel. The second victim sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg. Both victims are in stable condition.”
Investigators believe the shooting was the result of a dispute that occurred at a local club earlier in the night. Investigators also believe both victims are not being forthcoming regarding the incident.
Both victims are from Sparks, Georgia.
