VALDOSTA — The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office is warning the community of the latest phone scam.
The sheriff’s office said they have received a call Tuesday stating that they had been contacted by the sheriff’s office. The caller said that the person identified themselves as an employee of the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office, and demanded money or they would be arrested.
The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office said this is a scam. If you receive a phone call from this individual or individuals- hang-up the phone – and call the sheriff’s office. Do not give the caller any personal information.
The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office does not contact people and demand money, nor does any other law enforcement agency.
