VALDOSTA — The City of Valdosta has released this week’s event schedule, which includes hearing on the city budget for Fiscal Year 2016.  That and others are included in this week’s agenda:

June 9: Valdosta City Council Meets for Work Session. The Mayor and City Council will meet for a work session on Tuesday, beginning at 5:30 p.m., which allows council members to spend an adequate amount of time discussing agenda items. The meeting is open to the general public and is held in the second floor Council Chambers of City Hall, at 216 E. Central Avenue.

June 9-10: City Hosts Budget Hearings. The City of Valdosta will hold budget hearings for its Fiscal Year 2016 budget on Tuesday, June 9, from 3-5:30 p.m. and Wednesday, June 10, beginning at 5:30 p.m., in the Valdosta City Hall second-floor Council Chambers. Citizens are invited to attend these public meetings.

June 11: Valdosta City Council Meets. The Mayor and City Council will meet this Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers. The meeting is open to the general public and includes three special award presentations and other city business. Click here to view the agenda.

June 13: Farm Days EVERY Saturday in June. If you can’t get enough of the popular Downtown Valdosta Farm Days, you will be pleased to know that the market takes place every Saturday during the month of June-except for June 20-on the sidewalks around the historic courthouse in downtown Valdosta, from 9 a.m. to Noon. June 13: Picture This! Celebrate a special Dad at an interactive merchant event in downtown Valdosta, on June 13, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This events culminates with a FREE photo for Dad, courtesy of Wes Sewell Photography and Valdosta Main Street. Visit www.valdostamainstreet.com for details.

June 14: National Flag Day. People across the United States celebrate Flag Day on June 14 each year to honor the United States flag and to commemorate the flag’s adoption in 1777. Citizens in Valdosta are encouraged to join citizens throughout the United States in honoring this day by displaying the American flag at their homes and businesses.
