LOWNDES CO. — Lowndes High School students participated in the end-of-the-year district Academic Quiz Bowl tournament at Wiregrass Technical College. Academic Quiz Bowl is a jeopardy-like team competition that involves students trying to answer point-valued questions with the goal of outscoring opponents from other schools. Students get a chance to demonstrate their general knowledge of high school curriculum and other subject areas related to clubs or job skills. Out of 11 teams entered by Valdosta, Berrien, Tift, and Lowndes, our two teams finished first and second place. We had a head-to-head match to determine the overall winner and the runner up for the year.
The first place team was Patrick Sheridan, Tristin Skapetis, Ben Martin, Nathaniel Mitchell, Christopher Cook, and Warren Roark. This team was undefeated for the season!
The runner up team was David Stokes, Christian Chaney, Ryan Waller, Blake Allen, and Chad Hyer. This team only had two losses for the year.
