Georgia Golf Courses Practice Social Distancing

Share with friends

A number of state park golf courses are taking special measures to practice social distancing. Since golf is a sport that naturally doesn’t require close contact, proper distancing can be accomplished with greater ease. Standards such as closing clubhouses and asking athletes not to touch the flag sticks are just a couple ways many courses are reducing health risks.

Golf Course Staff Take Measures to Encourage Safe Health Practices

Golf Courses Stay Open, Messages from Golf Course Managers

This message is from Dawn Wise, Clubhouse Manager of Brazell’s Creek at Gordonia-Alatamaha State Park:

Golf is a great way to get outdoors and enjoy fresh air while spending time with friends and family. The golf course seems to one of the safest places in the world right now. Social distancing is very easy to accomplish on the golf course. Brazell’s Creek Golf Course is making adjustments in these challenging times. We are encouraging social distancing by restricting access to the clubhouse. Equipment that people frequently touch, flag sticks [holes are center of the green] ball washers and water coolers, have been removed on the golf course. Carts are cleaned after each use with a bleach solution. Hand sanitizer and cleansing wipes are provided for customers. You can book your tee time online or reserve over the phone by calling (912)-557-7745. Have a fantastic April, and stay tuned for info on upcoming tournaments later this year.

A message from David Sikes, General Manager of The Lakes at Laura S. Walker:

To keep our guest and staff safe, the staff at The Lakes at Laura S. Walker are taking proactive measures. We are asking golfers to follow our rules so we may remain open.

The clubhouse is closed, but we will be taking payment over the phone and answering any questions you may have. We will be taking all ball washers off the course. Our staff is wiping the nozzle and push button on all water coolers.

Please do not pull the flagsticks out of the holes, leave them in place. We will be implementing the noodle in the bottom of the cup (photo, right) This way you will not have to reach your hand down into the cup.

We will be taking the Bunker Rakes off the course. Play the bunkers as is, or as ground under repair, your choice.

Please do not bring sunflower seeds in shells. Thank you for supporting The Lakes at Laura S. Walker during these challenging times.
