Atlanta Braves lose both catchers for opening day due to Covid-19

Although Tyler Flowers and Travis d’Arnaud both tested negative, the Atlanta Braves catching cadre are showing symptoms of Covid-19. Both were scratched from traveling with the team to New York for the opening day game against the Mets.

Instead, the organization has called Alex Jackson and William Contreras from the so-called “Taxi Squad,” the pool of players each organization is allowed, in the absence of a minor league season, for just such a circumstance.

The Braves just got Freddie Freeman back in time for opening day, after he tested positive and battled Covid-19. He will be in his familiar spot at 1st base, according to the line-up today, with the first pitch being thrown at 4:10 pm. The line-up includes:
