VALDOSTA –  Valdosta State’s weighty Gulf South Conference victory over West Alabama on Saturday produced even more good news on Monday, as Adam Robles earned GSC Offensive Player of the Week honors, and Cedric Hollingshedpicked up his fourth GSC Freshman of the Week award of the season.

Robles, a sophomore out of Ocala, Fla., completed a season-high 34 passes with three touchdown tosses and 353 passing yards against the Tigers on Saturday. He was sacked just one time and added 18 rushing yards to secure the critical victory and help keep the Blazers’ playoff hopes alive heading into the final week of the season.

Meanwhile, Hollingshed continued his consistent success at the running back position. The freshman picked up 43 rushing yards on the week, and his second-half touchdown helped put the game out of reach for UWA. The Macon, Ga. native put his versatility on display once again with three catches and 27 receiving yards. Hollingshed now has 392 rushing yards and 154 receiving yards on the season.

Preparation is underway for Valdosta State’s final home game, which is set to kickoff this Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at Bazemore-Hyder Stadium. The game will serve as VSU’s annual Military Appreciation Game, and the 2016 Senior Class will also be recognized prior to the game.
