VALDOSTA – For the second straight week, the defensive efforts of Blazer volleyball’s Sydney Chick have led to a Gulf South Conference Defensive Player of the Week honor.
In the announcement made by the GSC office on Tuesday, the conference recognized an outstanding week for Chick that included 91 total digs in four games. The junior averaged a stellar 6.5 digs per set and posted a career high 30 digs in Friday night’s match against Nova Southeastern.
Chick joined Antia Rodriguez-Sanchez and Susanna Peonia as All-Tournament selections after Valdosta State’s 2-1 performance on the week. As a result, the Blazers had more players named to the All-Tournament team than any other participating team in the tournament.
Up next, the Blazers will be back at home on October 21st to face the Tigers of West Alabama in another GSC showdown. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start time in Valdosta.
