The Lowndes High Vikings defeated the Tift County Blue Devils 45-24 after scoring 24 unanswered second half points.

The Blue Devils started off the high-scoring night with a 75-yard completion to Quay Green; giving the Blue Devils a 7-0 lead over the Vikings.

Lowndes came right back on the first play of their drive with Michael Barrett completing a 82-yard touchdown pass to Marcus Gary; tying the game at 7-7.

After a field goal from Tift County, the Vikings came right back on their next drive with a big rushing touchdown by Barrett; giving the Vikings the lead, 14-10.

With just around four minutes left in the first half, Tift County’s Ronald Jackson rushes into the endzone to give Tift the lead, 17-14. But Lowndes wasn’t going into the half without the momentum.

Just after the Vikings got the ball back, Barrett completed an 80-yard touchdown pass to Tayvonn Kyle.

Needless to say, the first half was very eventful and entertaining.

Lowndes came into the second half firing on all cylinders. Barrett and Tyson Harris took it upon themselves to give the Vikings the win.

Barrett had one rushing and one passing touchdown in the second half along with Harris’ one rushing touchdown and two-point conversion.

Lowndes plays at home on October 21st in their second region game against the Camden County Wildcats.
