ATHENS – Georgia running back Sony Michel suffered a broken arm in what’s being termed an “off-field incident” over the weekend.

According to UGASports.com, Michel was involved in an ATV accident Sunday evening. He had surgery for a fractured left forearm on Monday morning.

He underwent successful surgery Monday morning at Athens Regional Medical Center Monday morning and according to Sr. Associate Director for Sports Medicine Ron Courson, a full recovery is expected, although no timetable was given.

Michel ran for 1,161 yards and eight touchdowns after he became Georgia’s primary running back following Nick Chubb’s knee injury against Georgia. He had 20 or more carries in seven of Georgia’s final eight games of 2015. The only game he had less than 20 carries came in a 27-3 loss to Florida when he had 13 carries for 45 yards.
