VALDOSTA – Barnes Healthcare Services will be hosting the 8th Annual 5k supporting Alzheimer’s Caregiver Time Out.

Last year, Barnes raised over 21,000 for the Boys and Girls Club, and this year the goal is to raise 25,000 for ACTO.

ACTO is an organization that acts as a day care for individuals with Alzheimer’s, giving families the ability to take care of them and not send mom or dad to a home where they could experience a reduced quality of life and health deterioration at a much faster rate.

These organizations actually improve health, quality of life, overall cognitive ability and longevity in many of their clients.

ACTO is currently open for three days per week, and Barnes hopes to help ACTO open five days per week.
