VALDOSTA  The Valdosta State softball team saw four players receive All-South Region honors in a release by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) on Monday, and Caitlyn Calhoun was also named the South Region Pitcher of the Year.

Joining Calhoun, who also represented VSU’s lone First Team selection, were shortstop Jaime Phillips, first baseman Kiley Rusen, and left fielder Brandy Morgan. Valdosta State’s honorees represented four of 22 selections out of the Gulf South Conference, while the Sunshine State Conference added five student-athletes, and the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference had one selection.

With the First Team selection, Calhoun automatically moves to the ballot for All-American voting.

The Division II Conference Commissioners Association encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
