VALDOSTA – Following a 15th place finish in the 2016 Gulf South Conference Tournament with a 7-over 223 at the Robert Trent Jones at the Shoals course in Muscle Shoals, Ala. last week, Blazer golf’s Chris Rogers earned a spot in the 2016 NCAA Division II Regional Championship.

The invite to participate came on the heels of a strong regular season finish for Rogers. On the season, the senior scored top-20 finishes in four of ten events, and his best two performances of the season came in the final two tournaments, where he claimed a tie for third and an outright 15th place finish, respectively.

Rogers’ third place tie occurred at the Buccaneer Invitational in Miami Beach, Fla. at Normandy Shores on April 5, 2016. In that tournament, he shot a 3-under 210 on the 6,733-yard, par-71 course. His effort at the event included a second-round score of 3-under 68, which represented one Rogers’ top rounds of the season.

The Dawson, Ga. native will enter the Regional Championship matchup ranked 35th in the South Region and 126th overall at the Division II level. Rogers will compete from May 2-4 at Mission Inn Resort and Club located in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
