MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. – Valdosta State nearly matched their round one performance on day two of the Gulf South Conference Championship and held steady in third place heading into Tuesday’s final round at Robert Trent Jones at the Shoals in Muscle Shoals, Ala.

The Blazers posted a 12-over 300 score as a team on Monday, with Chris Rogers‘ improved score of 1-over 73 leading the pack. Rogers solid day lifted him into a tie for 11th place on the individual leaderboard, while Matt Anderson shot for a 2-over 74 in the second round to remain among the top 10 on the leaderboard in a tie for ninth place.

Jake Harpe delivered a two-stroke improvement in the second round at 2-over 74, while Davis Roche rounded out VSU’s field of contributors in the second round with a score of 7-over 79.

Lee continued in first place after a 3-under 285 team effort on Monday put the Flames at even for the tournament, while West Florida shot an even 288 in the second round to firm up their second place position with a 7-over 583 score so far over the course of the first two days.

Valdosta State’s overall tournament score of 21-over 597 places them three strokes ahead of Delta State and North Alabama, who each sit at 24-over 600 heading into the final day of competition.
