MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. – The Valdosta State men’s golf team posted a 10-over 298 score in the final round of the Gulf South Conference Championship Tournament at the Robert Trent Jones at the Shoals course in Muscle Shoals, Ala. to finish tied for fourth place out of 11 teams as the tournament drew to a close on Tuesday.

Entering the day at third place, the Blazers were unable to hold position after North Alabama put together the second best round of the tournament with a 5-under 283 performance in round three. As a result, the Lions closed out with a 19-over 883 score overall in the tournament, which topped both the Blazers and the Delta State Statesmen, who each finished at 31-over 895 for a tie in fourth place.

The Lee Flames, who were in first place at the start of the final day, finished tied for first place after West Florida posted the tournament’s best round, a 7-under 281 score on Tuesday.

Individually, the Blazers saw four solid rounds from Matt Anderson, Colton Godwin, Chris Rogers, and Jake Harpe. Anderson and Godwin each posted a final round score of 2-over 74 on day three, while Rogers and Harpe matched up for a 3-over 75 on the par-72, 7,126 yard course.

Three different Blazers finished among the top 20, as Anderson claimed a spot tied for 11th, and Rogers and Harpe finished 15th and 17th, respectively.
