VALDOSTA — It will be a big day on most high school campuses as National Football Signing Day kicks off. Players from around the country will have the opportunity to officially commit to a college or university football program.
Valdosta High School, traditionally a fountain of talent for many of the nation’s best collegiate programs, will offer a presentation of their signing football players Wednesday at 9:30 in the campus’ VHS Performing Arts Center.
Valdosta High School coach Rance Gillespie will introduce five of his top players to media, family and friends. Though nothing is final until pen is put to paper, here is a list of the 5 featured players and their expected college of choice:
Cornerback Josh Norwood | Ohio State University
Safety Tra Barrett | Georgia Military College
Safety/Running Back Tim McClain | University of West Georgia
Defensive Lineman Julian Fraser | Yale University
Defensive End Jamari Chisholm | Northeast Oklahoma A&M College
Across town at Valwood School, Athletic Director Brett Martin expects 4 graduating Valiants to announce signings, including one Division 1-bound player.
Anthony Folkerts has announced he will sign with Rutgers University in New Jersey and play football in the Big 10.
Both Mark Merine and Alex Jackson have stated intentions to attend Valdosta State and play football for Coach David Dean.
Parker Bonner is still publicly undecided, looking at options as of this report.
