SYLVESTER, Ga. – Police are searching for suspects in a late Wednesday night shooting in Sylvester that left one man dead.

At approximately 11:30 p.m., Dontavious Rutland, 25, was shot in the stomach during a home invasion in the 100 block of Covey Street. He was taken to a hospital but later died.

Rutland was reportedly able to tell police that he was attacked by a man with a shotgun

The Sylvester Police Department is searching for suspects, and anyone with information is asked to call (229) 776-8501.

The incident comes just one day after a body was found in a vacant home in Sylvester.
