On October 19th, the body of Jalon Jackson was found in his Toombs Street residence and so far the case remains open with no suspects but police officials say that they hope to make an arrest soon. Anyone with information regarding the death of Jalon Jackson is asked to contact the Valdosta Police Department at 229-293-3091. The family of the deceased 20 year old Jackson is also working to help gain information as to who took their son’s life; a reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of their son’s killer.
Judge Louis Sands has called for attorneys on both sides of a civil suit in the case surrounding the death of former Lowndes High student Kendrick Johnson who was found dead inside the school’s old gymnasium, to present in writing their arguments to him by January 6th. The Johnson family filed a $100 million dollar wrongful death lawsuit then withdrew the action, planning to re-file at a later date. The Judge has requested more information prior to issuing his decision as to the forward movement of the case. The suit names local and state officials.
A grand jury in Dougherty County has ruled that the shooting death of suspect Robert Lee Brown age 55 last September 7th was justified and that Albany Police officer Derrick Williams will face no criminal charges in connection with Brown’s death. An altercation between Brown and officer Williams led to the officer getting stabbed in the shoulder; the officer then drew his weapon and fired striking Brown in the back, and he later died. The grand jury recommended no further action be taken.
18 year old Kemarreom Bryant and an unnamed juvenile are the suspects in the shooting that took place in Thomasville that left two victims with leg wounds. Law enforcement officials are searching for their whereabouts and they say that 15 to 20 shots were fired during the incident.
