VALDOSTA, Ga. – After another house fire affected the community of Stone Creek, they decided to start petition that has already received well over 1,000 signatures.
“Our concern is that we have had four fires in the last few years and all four houses burned completely down. We believe this is due at least in part because we have only volunteer, not full time fire protection. In the current system, the volunteers are alerted by emergency services, travel to the firehouse from their homes, man the truck and then go to the fire. Considering these factors, it’s amazing that they can get to the fire in 20 minutes.”
The goal of the petition is to have the Fire Department fully manned 24/7 for the northern Lowndes County Area. It is not only for the homes of Stone Creek, but also Grove Pointe, Northlake, Foxborough businesses in the area.
More information on the issue can be found on their petition page at Change.org.
