VALDOSTA, Ga. – Randall Hancock from the Valdosta Police Department offered some tips for looking out for your little trick-or-treaters.

“Halloween is number two day out of the year children are injured or killed by cars,” Hancock said. “It’s a dangerous day and there are a lot of things to help to avoid that.”

COSTUMES

  • Make sure masks fit properly so they can see out of them.
  • Make sure they’re proper-fitting so child won’t trip on them.
  • They should be fire-resistant
  • Carry a flashlight or glow-stick to make the child more visible

Extra city and county patrols will be out in the neighborhoods.

“Motorists need to be aware that children will be out and need to be aware,” Hancock added. “Drive super slow through neighborhoods and be looking for children wearing dark clothing, be extra extra careful.”

STRANGE HOMES

  • If you get candy from house and you’re not familiar, you want the parent to check candy
  • If you’re children are at an age with a cellphone don’t let them be looking at it and trip and fall

Get out there and enjoy this fun season, but be safe! Look out for all the little monsters and ghouls!
