VALDOSTA – After a fire destroyed a longtime downtown business, demolition began last week.

Valdosta Furniture & Mattress was a family-owned and operated furniture store that supplied top quality products since 1975 in the heart of Downtown Valdosta.

Owner David Brooks watched his family business go down in flames. in downtown Valdosta is dealing with the loss of his 40-year-old business to a fire that lit up the night sky in late December 2018, just ahead of Christmas.

The business had just celebrated a 40-year anniversary.
