VALDOSTA – The City of Valdosta has dodged a potential $200,000 tax bill after city-paid lobbyists spotted and worked to kill a small provision added to state legislation.

The provision would have quadrupled the host fee the city pays to dump waste in a local landfill, raising it from $1 per ton to $4.
