VALDOSTA – At seven pounds and two ounces, Lanysn Emmanuel was the first and only baby to arrive on New Year’s day at South Georgia Medical Center.

His parents Brittany Phillips and Eddie Emmanuel say he was supposed to be due on January 11th.

Instead, his mother was checked into the hospital after a baby shower for Lansyn on New Years Eve.

They say the 21-inch baby is now the first boy of the family.

“It’s just a blessing,” says Phillips. “I’m so happy to be his mom. It’s just a lot of excitement and I can’t wait to see what this year is going to bring us.”

They say it’s been a great way to bring in the New Year, which also happens to be Emmanuel’s birthday month.

“My birthday is January 19, so he’s a big gift to me right now,” says the father.

The parents say Lansyn is named after Phillip’s grandmother, and they can’t wait to take him home to the rest of the family.
