VALDOSTA – A fourth Valdosta State Prison inmate this year died on Friday, according to officials.
The Lowndes County Coroner says Robert Lee Hughes, 25, was pronounced dead around 10 a.m. in the emergency room at South Georgia Medical Center.
Three other inmates at the prison have died in 2016: Cody Vestal, 36, Richard Strickland, 31, and Dominique Hurt, 33.
The coroner said Hughes had no visible wounds or external bruising. Officials say there’s a “good possibility” foul play may have been involved.
More information will be available after an autopsy and toxicology report is finished.
