VALDOSTA – A Valdosta man has died after being shot early Tuesday morning in what police are describing as a drug-related incident.

Kenyan Devon Wright, 27, was shot multiple times at a residence in the 700 block of East Jane Street at approximately 3 a.m.

Wright was taken to South Georgia Medical Center for treatment. Wright died at 7 p.m. as the result of his injuries, reports stated.

Wright’s body has since been moved to the Valdosta/Lowndes Regional Crime Laboratory pending an autopsy by a medical examiner at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

“This was an isolated incident. The house was targeted for a specific reason, and we believe it to be drug-related,” Childress said.

Crime scene technicians who responded to the scene have developed what VPD Chief Brian Childress described as “critical evidence” which could lead to identifying the suspect. Childress also said detectives believe there are multiple offenders in this incident.

“The investigation continues to be ongoing and anyone with any information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Valdosta Police Department immediately,” said VPD Lt. Adam Bembry.
